Corresponds to Goulden 40. A reissue of the Third Edition of 1822, the preface (Address) being dated September 1822. At the end are tables of distances and roads, useful information and a list of lodging houses. Like the Second Edition, the Third appeared in 'a rash of reissues...marked variously by cancel title pages, differently dated prefaces or cancel covers;' again it was a notably reduced version of the previous 1817 edition that John Clifford (1787-1843) had taken over from his uncle, Jasper Sprange (1745-1823), whose bookselling and printing business he formally took over in this year.
