Item Description
An original pencil and wash drawing. 11.5 x 7 inches approx., on paper. Overall size including mount 12.5 x 16.5 inches approx.
Notes
A very competent depiction, viewed from the end of the Leas to the west of Albion Villas, and taking in Number One the Leas, the rear of the Esplanade Hotel, West Cliff Gardens, Albion Villas, Priory Gardens and the Parish Church. Visible beyond is Copt Point and beyond the faint outline of the White Cliffs. Little more than a dozen people are depicted. Strollers, viewers of the sea, both seated and standing, and a carriage driver give scale to the scene but the architecture and setting are foremost in the artist's mind.
We have available Giclée reproductions of this drawing at £30.
