Notes
The Act authorises the Wardens of the Rochester Bridge Trust, dating from 1396, to demolish the medieval stone bridge and to erect a new one using income derived from their property and investments. It refers to Letters Patent of Richard III and Acts of Queen Elizabeth and Queen Anne. The new cast iron bridge was built in 1856, reconstructed in 1914 and refurbished in 2006. Additional railway and road bridges were added later.
