8vo. 8.75 x 5.5 inches. [4] + 27 + [1] pp. In cream stiff card printed boards with black titles and pink vignette decoration. Minor wear to extremities, but otherwise a fine clean copy. Illustrated by 12 drawings and engravings in colour and black and white. Decorated by title page vignette. Essex portrayed in twelve drawings and engravings by John O'Connor (1913-2004), Principal of the Colchester College of Art, 1948-64 (Art UK website). The preface states that the captions to the artworks were compiled by Stuart Rose.
