Notes
An accomplished drawing depicting the West view of the church in its then rural setting, seen from across a field. Clearly visible is the Buckland Yew in its original position before an extension to the church necessitated its being moved further to the west, where it survives to this day, purportedly 1700 years old. This drawing was among a small number we purchased from an album of drawings of places scattered throughout England. They had all been carefully mounted on card and exquisitely hand-titled. None of the drawings was signed but the album was identified as the work of E. Gilbertson.
