Illustrations
Illustrated by 2 engraved vignette titles, folding map of Thanet, by 105 engraved plates and by one table in text. As usual the lists of engravings at the front of each vol. are not a completely accurate record of the actual contents. Vol. I has additional plate, East Cliff, Thanet, p.99. Vol. II lacks West end of Faversham Church, p.114 but has additional plate, West end of Beaksbourn Church, Kent, at end.

A very good copy of this attractive and informative work which is very hard to find without serious foxing. The fine copper engraved plates by William Deeble after drawings by Sam Prout, George Shepherd, H. Gastineau and others are very attractive. Volume I covers the Isle of Thanet and Vol. II, Sandwich and the remaining Cinque Ports, including Deal and Walmer, Dover, Fordwich, Faversham, Folkestone, Hythe, Romney Marsh, Tenterden, Rye, Winchelsea and Hastings.
