Notes

From an original lithograph by Ronald Lampitt, produced on a large scale (20 x 40 inches) depicting the harbour and Pleasure Beach from an imagined elevated viewpoint looking down at the new Rotunda, open-air swimming pool, boating lake, and overlooking the harbour, the Royal Pavilion Hotel, with East Cliff and the Warren beyond. Lampitt was much in demand in the 1950s producing many posters for British Railways, numerous educational posters and other popular graphics. As well as these large scale works Lampitt was much admired for his children's book illustrations, which like his posters, were evocative of this bygone era.
