FIRST EDITION. 4to. 11.5 x 9.75 inches. 232 pp. Bound in original black cloth. gilt, in pictorial dust wrapper which has some minor edge wear. A very good copy. Illustrated throughout in black and white, including frontispiece, and occasional colour. A well illustrated history of English prints from the fifteenth century, Wenceslaus Hollar and Hogarth through the nineteenth century and fin-de siecle and avant-garde periods to the modern print. At the end is a chapter on the collecting, storage and care of prints. Stephen Calloway was a curator at V and A Museum and has curated several exhibitions on printmakers.
