Bound in original brown cloth, gilt, in unclipped dust wrapper, in brown slipcase. A fine set. A comprehensive catalogue of the separately printed English poems of the first half of the eighteenth century. Volume 1 contains full bibliographical information and location of copies of some ten thousand entries. Volume 2 comprises a full set of indexes, including first lines, chronological, imprints, bibliographical notabilia, descriptive epithets and subjects. Compiled by David Fairweather Foxon (1923-2001), literary bibliographer, who served as a code breaker in Bletchley Park, 1942-44, as Assistant Keeper of Printed Books at the British Museum Library, 1950-65 and as Reader in Textual Criticism at the University of Oxford, 1968-82.
