Notes
An exposition of the science of homeopathy (based on the principle of like cures like) founded by Dr Christian Freidrich Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843), who was born in Meissen and moved to France in 1835. The first volume examines the general principles of homeopathy and the second describes the results of testing various plant extracts and minerals on the body. The third volume is concerned with the effects of the various pure medicinal preparations isolated by Dr Hahnemann. Dr Gerard Joseph Marie Bigel (1764-1832) studied medicine at Strasbourg and practised homeopathy at St Petersburg and at Warsaw, where this title was published. He served as physician to the Grand Duke Constantine Pavlovich (1779-1831), second son of the Czar, Paul I and Governor of Poland. A fine copy of this scarce early work on homeopathy in three volumes.
