Two volumes in verse from the Écrin du Bibliophile series published in Paris by Rouveyre and Blond. Les Après-Soupers is an original title, said to be the work of Léon Jaybert. It is illustrated by the writer, artist and caricaturist, Henri Maigrot (1857- 1933), who used the pseudonym, Henriot. Les Bijoux des Neuf Soœrs is a new edition of a work of collective authorship first published in 1790. The Nine Sisters was a famous freemason's lodge, which operated in Paris, 1776-92 (and again 1805-48). Among its members were Voltaire, and American revolutionaries, including Benjamin Franklin and John Paul Jones, when in France. This edition is illustrated by Oreste Cortazzo (1836-1910), Italian born artist and book illustrator. A fine set handsomely bound.
