Notes
A road map of Kent, which indicates the steepness of the gradients of ascents and descents. It also shows railways. The cartographer, Alexander Gross, formerly Grosz (1879-1958) was a native of Hungary who settled in Britain and around 1910 founded the Geographia map company, of whose products this is an early example. The company became a well known map publisher of the twentieth century, expanding its operations into the USA. It was bought out by Harper Collins in the 1980s.
