Part one of the first comprehensive index to Domesday Book, referencing the Phillimore uniform translation of the entire text. It owes much to the Hull University Domesday Project in which Dr. John Palmer and his colleagues entered the translation into the university compute,r after which he and Professor Dodgson checked the raw data involving more than 16,000 place-names and 21,000 persons, names and titles.
