8vo. 7.5 x 5 inches. 126 pp. Bound in original red cloth, gilt, in price clipped yellow dust wrapper with chips at head and tail of spine, which is sunned; otherwise a very good clean copy. Set in a boys' preparatory school, this is a reissue of the second novel by Ivy Compton-Burnett (1884-1969), first published in 1925. A very early example of the writer's work, where she already displays the characteristic skills in dialogue which made her reputation as a novelist.
