Bound in original blue cloth with gilt titles and facsimile signatures, all in script format. Bevelled board edges. All page edges gilt. A little wear to extremities, including corners and head and tail of spine; occasional foxing but otherwise a very good copy. Binders label of W. Bone and Son, 76 Fleet St. London. Armourial bookplate of Riccardi Cubitt and Cubitt signature on first free endpaper. Illustrated by 20 engraved plates, including frontispiece etching by Cruikshank and by text figures. Decorated by borders to all pages and by vignettes and initials. Humorous book of verse by Henry Cholmondeley-Pennell (1837-1915) who was also H.M. Inspector of Sea Fisheries and better known as the author of several books on angling, including the Badminton Library volume on Fishing (1888). With wood engravings by many of the famous illustrators of the day, including Hablot Browne ('Phiz'), Leech, Tenniel and Doyle and a notable frontispiece etching by George Cruikshank (1792-1878). With the bookplate of the Cubitt family, created Barons Ashcombe of Dorking and Bodiam in 1892. Fine binding by Bone and Son, a notable Victorian trade binder.
