Notes
Although the titles bound together have very similar titles, they are in fact two different works. The first, which two has prefaces dated 1849 (original publication) and 1854, Second Edition, is the actual Rudiments of Naval Architecture as quoted on both title pages. The second, as is evidenced by its running title, is the Rudimentary Treatise on Ship Building (also quoted as the cover title). Naval Architecture would appear to be the generic title for a two part work issued in one volume.
