Bound in original black cloth, gilt, in unclipped dust wrapper, which has sunned spine and board edges. Minor wear to extremities and a little spotting and staining of board edges; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by portrait frontispiece and by diagrams in text. A selection of twenty six previously published journal articles by Boris Ottokar Unbegaun (1898-1973), Russian born German linguist and philologist and Professor of Slavonic Studies, University of Oxford, on the Russian and Slavonic languages (also including papers on the Ruthenians and on Romania). Edited by Robert Auty (1914-78), Professor of Comparative Slavonic Philology and Belarusian specialist, and by Anne Elizabeth Pennington (1934-81), Slavic Language and song specialist, who later held the Oxford chair once occupied by Unbegaun, her mentor and by Auty.
