Notes
An act which extends the supply area of the original Brompton and Gillingham Waterworks Company, now incorporated, to the other two Medway towns of Chatham and Rochester, hitherto insufficiently supplied with water. The act details the administration and funding of the new company and sets levels of water rates. Consumers have an obligation to correctly install water closets equipped with cisterns and ball-cocks and to prevent waste they are to provide stopcocks. Penalties are prescribed for using water for non-domestic purposes and it is not lawful to to use 'any gutta-percha or other tubes or pipes' for washing windows, house fronts, pavements, roads or for any other purpose. Water may be supplied to the Local Board by the Company for watering roads and streets.
