8vo. 7.5 x 5.25 inches. xi + [i] + 178 + [2] pp. Bound in original blue cloth, with black titles and blocks, in pictorial dust wrapper, with edge wear and chips at head and tail of spine, which is sunned and missing section at top of rear wrapper. Board edges sunned and flyleaves browned and lightly foxed; otherwise a very good copy. Gift inscription from Ted on first free endpaper. Illustrated throughout by the drawings of E. H. Shepard, some whole page, including frontispiece and endpiece silhouette. Decorated by publisher's device on verso of title. The second Winnie-The-Pooh book with the classic combination of writer, A. A. Milne (1882-1956) and artist, Ernest H. Shepard (1879-1976). They had earlier collaborated in contributions to Punch magazine and in Milne's verse collection, When We were Very Young (1924). First published 1928.
