FIRST EDITION. 8vo. 8.75 x 6.25 inches. xvi + 311 pp. Bound in original green buckram, gilt, in pictorial non-clipped dust wrapper, which has sunned spine, with edge chips at head and tail and some sellotape marks on inner flaps; also on flyleaves, but otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by 40 colour, 32 black and white pages of plates and by 87 text figures. Decorated by New Naturalist device on title page.
