FIRST EDITION. 8vo. 8.75 x 5.75 inches. 123 + [1] pp. Bound in original black cloth, gilt, with gilt block on front board. Slight sunning of top of front boar, but otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated throughout by black and white photographs. Well illustrated account of an area formerly known as Ruthenia and Carpatho-Ukraine, located to the west of the Carpathian range. After the First World War, it became part of the new state of Czechoslovakia and since 1946, of Ukraine, then in the USSR. By Czech journalist, J. B. Heisler (1911-82) and J. E. Mellon.
