Notes
Dibdin, painter and illustrator, was born in Surrey in October 1810, the son of Thomas Dibdin the dramatist, and probably grandson of Charles Dibdin, the actor dramatist. Dibdin travelled widely in Europe where he did many drawings of old towns and picturesque buildings. He is widely admired and considered one of the best Water-colour painters of the Victorian era. He died in December 1893. Collections are held in the Ashmolean, the BM, and the V & A.
