FIRST EDITION. 8vo. 8.5 x 5.5 inches. Unpaginated. [14] pp. In light blue stiff card wrapper, gilt. Deckled edges. Slight sunning at top of boards, but otherwise a very good copy. Signed by author below limited edition statement. Illustrated by colour plate and by title page vignette. Edmund Blunden's, Christmas poem, Winter Nights, published in the Ariel Poems collection. Edmund Blunden (1896-1974) is best known as a war poet. He later pursued a literary career and also wrote on cricket. The drawings are by the artist, illustrator and stage designer, Albert Rutherston (1881-1953). He studied at the Slade, 1898-1902, served in Palestine, 1916-19, designed posters for London Underground and was Ruskin Master of Drawing at Oxford, 1929-48. The first series of Faber's Ariel Poems was published, 1927-31. Limited edition signed by author.
